Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have been trained for the updated syllabus at NIE. I have seen and I understand the challenges that may occur while learning Chinese language. So that I am able to teach children in accordance in their aptitude and ability during tuition sessions, in order to help them not just to overcome the difficulties but also to enjoy learning Chinese by having the suitable method on a long-term basis. I can also help children to get used to the study pace and to improve their learning abilities as I am familiar with the current syllabus as well as the new assessment policy.

Rapport Building: I come from a very academically sound background having graduated from Hwa Chong institution, it has equipped me with the necessary skillsets to excel in my studies. i aspire to share my personal tips and studying techniques with my students, giving them valuable insights and to give them the self confidence to not just do well, but to develop a passion for what they are pursuing.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I currently have nieces and nephews enrolled in upper primary, lower secondary and upper secondary; hence i do not sense any issue with keeping up to the date with the current curriculum. With regard to JC students, (GP/KI), I am still in regular contact with my GP teacher, who is one of my many mentors.

As a Good Tutor: Commitment, Compassion, Critical. These are the 3Cs i abide by. To be committed to my students means no last minute cancellations, understanding that his/her education is at stake, and it is no laughing matter. To be compassionate, being a student myself, there will be certain difficulties every student faces, be it in the classroom, or outside of it, so i must be able to empathise with such factors, and adjust my expectations accordingly so as to not stress my student unnecessarily. Lastly, to be Critical, my job is not to befriend my student, but to educate and mentor. Hence i will have to be professional and remain objective towards them. If i feel like there is a lack in effort, or that my student is exhibiting poor attitude; i will make it known to them, whether or not they like what they hear.

Rapport Building: As I am an out-going person, I am usually not awkward. I believe i will have a good relationship with my student. Definitely, having a good rapport with the students means that their parents tend to like the tutor more. However, i will still keep a professional relationship especially with their parents.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have a younger sibling who is in Secondary School, so I know the syllabus updates. And also sometimes through the news, for example the new PSLE grading system.

As a Good Tutor: One of the most important factor is definitely, patience. Another is adaptability, every student has their own weaknesses in each subject. Tutors will have to think of a way to allow students to understand and absorb what is taught to them. Another factor is enthusiasm. By being enthusiastic, this will have a positive impact on the student. Motivating the student will incite the student to imply themselves to do better. The next factor is being humble. Although we are familiar with the subject, however, we should never get irritated at the student and instead be patient to guide them.
