Rapport Building
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Admittedly, I am not MOE nor NIE trained. And I do not always have access to the most up-to-date exam papers from the premier schools.

However, I believe that having a strong command of the English language will place a child head and shoulders over his/her peers. With a strong understanding of language, there will only need to be minor tweaks to the formal/informal language use, adherence to format and structure in order for a student to thrive in any level of education that uses the English medium.

I place more importance in building a strong, extensive vocabulary coupled with well-practiced basics in grammar. Often times, having extensive practice for these two categories for students in Primary or Secondary school will help the weaker students (B4-C6 O Level Grading) see marked improvements.

As students prepare to advance into their tertiary levels, I tend to focus on helping them learn to articulate their thoughts. I tend to fall back onto story telling techniques and feature writing which are the areas I was formally trained in as a Polytechnic Student. Storytelling techniques help a student to formulate a detailed structure for 3000 words and below. While many Singaporean students are used to speaking and writing in English, it takes a well-practiced student to be able to write in a structured, easy-to-read manner that caters to more audiences. With an advantage in structuring thoughts in words, it helps a student write more succinctly and also speak logically.
