Once I have understood their objectives, I would gauge the students current level and speed and figure out what kind of pace and teaching method would best apply to him/her.       I have taught many students from many schools and that helps me understand each school's standards and expectations, as well as keep in touch with the syllabus. I have family members who are full time tutors and centers and that also helps me get an idea of today's curriculum.
