          I usually build rapport with my students by using their favourite topics to engage them in a conversation and allow them to open up to me. Through this method, I can better gain their trust and engage them by drawing links between their favourite topics to the subject that I am teaching at hand. Furthermore, in order to encourage my students to do well in their studies, I tend to rationalise with and motivate them through their various topics and why they have to work so that they will remain resilient when the tough gets going. To build rapport with parents, I would try to give feedback on the progress of their child who I am tutoring and also shown my concern with regards to their well-being.
          Keeping Up with Curriculum
          I look at the recent test papers as well as the syllabus set out by SEAB to better prepare for my upcoming classes so that they will be more relevant and in line with what students are learning nowadays in school. I have also look at many assessment books to have a variety of questions available at the tip of my fingertips to let my students try out and put what they have learnt into actual application.
          As a Good Tutor
          I believe that as a good tutor, one should know the content of the subject very clearly, at the back of his or her hand and have the ability to explain in a clear and concise manner to help the student to understand and apply. A good tutor should not only focus on the academic achievements of the students but look after the emotional well-being of their students so that they remain motivated in achieving their goals and at the same time, not be too stressed.

            Teach students according to their pace and abilities. Set suitable amount of homework and bring them home to better save time so that more lesson time can be allocated to teach new type of questions, topic etc. Go through questions that students get wrong and prepare similar type of questions for more practice. Understand student's weaker topic and focus more on them. Nearing exams, prepare relevant school papers for them to practice. Provide student with my contact number so that they can text me anytime for questions they face difficulties with.
