Having tutor a few students from unsatisfcatory grades to satisfactory grades, I have found that it is not just practice that makes perfect. It is definitely motivation, convincing my students that they have to have goals. Goals that they will want to work for, aims that allow them to soar higher. Most of my previous students did pretty well and its not because of the practices they did. It is because they realised that only hardwork brings them somewhere in society. Also, i prefer to tweak exercises which my students are weak in and double the level they face. In this way, they learnt how to go a step further in solving the problems. Additionally, solving questions with them, makes them feel less inferior and more motivated to solve them.
