My teaching approach is topic dependent. For example, in order to teach a concept, I engage my students in a discussion and provide them with real life examples. If they think they've then understood it, I ask them to explain it to me and "teach" me the concept. This is due to my belief that teaching is one of the best ways of internalising information and gaining in depth understanding of it. If however, they can't solve a particular question, instead of giving them the answer straight, I prompt them and nudge them in the right direction, preferring that they reach the solution themselves. As the saying goes, it's better to teach a man how to fish rather than give him fish.
