Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start ASAP and will be dedicated to commit to teaching the student as best and as long as possible. Tuition dates are flexible and I would like to conduct the lesson at the tutee's place.
Rapport Building
I normally talk to the student to find out his/her interests, activities and lessons in school. When going through questions during the lessons, I would often link it back to the tutee's interests. I would usually communicate to the parents after lesson to find out if there are any updates I should take note of for the tutee and I would also give some feedback on the tutee's progress. If there are any concerns that the parents might have such as the tutee's character development, we would also communicate further.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Read up syllabus issued by MOE as well as by the school.
Analyse topics and questions from past year papers and assessment books.
As a Good Tutor
- Patient
- Go through a question thoroughly and test tutee's understanding to ensure he/she understands the question well and will be able to answer a similar question in future.
- Conducts revision frequently to check in on the tutee's understanding.
- Takes note of the tutee's strengths and weaknesses and acknowledges them. As for topics that the tutee is slightly weaker in, take note to explain again and do more practices with him/her.
- Keeps track of tutee's progress in school,
- Encourages tutee to ask any questions
- Firm in giving tutee instructions and homework
