Commitment / Other Details
I have just graduated and am able to start anytime. I am willing to commit for the mid term (~1-2 years), and can commit further if my schedule permits later on.
Rapport Building
Having been a lazy student unwilling to study myself, I believe that short breaks at intervals is key to maintaining attention span. I would also try to ask and understand what are the current trends amongst the young students these days to stay relevant and learn a thing or two.

With the younger students, a physical reward might motivate some students to chase the next objective. The idea is to make learning fun and interactive. When tutoring my students in english, I would compile my favourite poems for him to read, and guided him in understanding the meaning behind them. I would show videos and scenes from movies if they served to prove a relevant point. I try to embed these fun activities between the more mundane tasks of tackling comprehensions, for example.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As with any new student, I will browse and purchase the latest books I find relevant to the current curriculum and which are suitable for teaching new concepts. I will ask each student the order at which their teacher at school is planning to teach the content, and I will try to emulate that as much as possible, so that the student is always up to date or ahead of what is being taught at school.
As a Good Tutor
I think patience, responsibility, and commitment are key elements to a great tutor.

Patience is essential as while many tutors can easily grasp complex concepts, students may struggle to understand them. The gap in ability should be understood and the tutor should try his/her best to frame the concepts in alternative ways so the student can understand them.

The tutor must also be responsible for the student, and ensure that the pace and scope of learning is not neglected at any point of the tutorship.

Lastly, commitment is important because exams are at fixed times in a year, and that leaving a student at a crucial time before the exams could be detrimental to the student's momentum and progress.
