Rapport Building
For any relationship to be meaningful and progressive, active communication is essential. The trilateral relationship between tutors, children and parents is important in shaping the children and ensuring growth. While most children have very minor issues in class, i met situation where the child's behavior could potentially affect other students' learning. And in this situation, where the problem is non-academic in nature, i would assess the situation and seek appropriate assistance from the parents. If the issue is minor, it would reflect on how i could sustain the child learning interest and reassess my classroom management skills. If the problem is of academic in nature, i would assess my notes and worksheet and ensure that it would be customized to their learning ability. Since communication is vital, i would also ensure that the parents is well-informed about their child's progress, and if possible, help in giving reminders to the child to complete the necessary revision/homework.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated via visiting the websites for the syllabus requirements. I have notes created by myself through referencing to textbooks and relevant credible websites. I sourced for information and create a notes and worksheets of different difficulty, with easy questions and critical thinking application questions. I have 6 months experience as an full time internship tutor in a tuition centre while studying in NTU, allowing me to have an access to a variety of good questions and notes created by a many recognised schools in Singapore.
I purchase many assessment books and textbooks from popular and through online and through the help of other ex-MOE-teachers and myself, i combined the information to create concise and comprehensive materials that would be required of by the MOE.
