Rapport Building
i believe that having a great relationship with the parents is the most crucial part of a child's education jouurney. Because as a teacher , we are not able to observe the child on a daily basis. we can only get to know them from the short tuition session adn can infer slightly from the test results. i think this is when the up to date feedback on the parents comes into play. Tuition teachers and parents should work hand in hand to know more about the strengths and weaknesses of the child. This is to ensure that even after i leave when the lesson is over, the education of the child does not stop. the follow up actions by the parents will be able to benefit the child greatly.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
i have friends who are secondary and primary school teachers and they will give me up to date infos about the syllabus. Also, i will visit the moe website to find out and analyse the current exam trend and get the child ready for future exams.
As a Good Tutor
the basic qualities of a good tutor are patience, dedication and understanding.
As a teacher, our job is to nurture the students throughout their learning journey. We are suppose to guide them through the paths that they have never walked before. Of course, it is easy for us to solve problems and answer questions at their level because we are grown ups. but we must understand that it is their first time solving it. Being patient about explanation henceforth is a key attribute of a good tutor.
Dedication comes into play in the long run. If a child cannot receive consistent education and guidance from the same tutor, he/she will not be able to benefit as much. The teacher need to put in the dedication when it comes to scheduling class weekly and making the extra effort of buying necessary materials for the kid. Only then , in the long run the child is able to keep up with the pace at a consistent rate and make improvements.
Understanding the strength and weaknesses of the child is the basic fundamental of every teacher. we cant give the right advice and do the right exercises of we are not clear about what this child need to improve. Identifying the correct strength and weakness will help to improve the student faster and better. Practice does not make perfect, it is by practicing the right things, then it will make perfect.
