Commitment / Other Details
I am able to commit for a minimum of one year.
Rapport Building
I will first gain an understanding of the student's academic performance through common examination questions. Once I've understood the student's weaker concepts, I will explain to the parents and I will design practice questions specifically designed to target at strengthening the student's weaker concepts. These practice questions are specific yet versatile as I will not forgo other key concepts that are equally important. Parents will be kept in the loop within this time frame that I will be able to achieve certain level of improvement in the student's capability. I am willing to alter my teaching caliber and intensity depending on the parent's consent and general concerns. I will also teach the student beyond his/her syllabus at times, depending on the student's current academic performance. This is to create a more wholesome learning experience for the student as he/she proceeds to secondary school. Parents and students are free to contact me 24/7 with any questions pertaining to the student's academics.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I constantly practice my skills on examination papers and assignment books to ensure that I know the syllabus well and constantly renewing my skills to stay relevant to the changing curriculum. I am also constantly exploring new methods to teach. This is to accommodate to students who may require more attention on a particular set of concepts. I tend to read beyond the syllabus. I hope to provide students an encouraging yet challenging environment that will allow them to appreciate the knowledge they are gaining.
As a Good Tutor
As an experienced tutor, I trust in all my students to succeed despite of their academic or personality background. I am relentless in my pursuit for academic improvements. I will not however, at the expense of pursuing excellence, sacrifice the joy of learning. As much as practical results are important to me, I aim to inculcate joy in learning by constantly relating concepts to the practical world. My aim as a tutor is not just merely providing excellent grades improvements for the students but also to nurture the students in becoming lifelong and holistic learners. Ultimately, I trust in ability to put in my best effort to improve a student's grade and holistic development, no matter how tough the journey is. On the practical side, I will promote rigorous practice questions on the first few lessons to create a strong concept foundation that is crucial for the student's academic development. Subsequently, lessons will be altered and designed based on the student's academic strengths and weaknesses.
