Rapport Building
I used to teach Secondary and JC Math during my time in The Learning Lab, and I've had a great experience with the students I have taught there, and it is heartening to hear from the students that they have benefitted from my teaching even after they have graduated.

I have decided to leave The Learning Lab after a year and a half as I will like to experience giving small group tuition instead of a class of 13-14 students, which is the average class size back during my journey in TLL. When teaching in a big class, I realised that for Math, what students need more is personal attention and companion to guide them through the concepts and the doubts they had with the questions, which is actually hard to achieve given a big class size. I hope that I will be able to give much more attention to every individual and that was the main reason why I decide to leave the centre and provide private tuition on my own.

I have been doing private tuition for the past year, and it has been pretty enriching and satisfying seeing how much the students have progressed and improved, and most importantly, gained more confidence in themselves and also mastery of the subject.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I do check with my students with regards to the syllabus and the topics they have been learning in school, and I do visit the MOE website to stay updated about the content of syllabus that the students are focusing on.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor needs to be one who can let students open up to him/her freely. What I realised about most students is that they do not have the courage to ask any questions or doubts they have as they are afraid that they are too simple and thus they feared of getting judged by the tutors. It is important for students to be able to feel comfortable talking to their tutors about any problems they had, be it in the subjects or any problems they faced in their daily life. A good tutor also needs to know the right teaching technique that best benefits the students, he/she needs to be able to know what students do not understand from their point of view and explain concepts to them in an organised manner.
