Commitment / Other Details
I am looking to work from now till mid of next year before i enlist for national service. With that being said, i am willing to commit time while serving ns during weekends to tutor.
Rapport Building
I always try to relate with my students as i feel that in order to teach them, i need to know what they respond to and what they like. In addition, I want to understand how students feel about certain subjects and perhaps what it means to them to study the subjects. This would allow me to help them learn better and to see what they could do better. As with parents of students, i understand that they want their best for their children thus i want to always be comitted in my work so that they will trust me more and hence i would like to help them be less worried.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself up to date by buying books on the new curriculum, assessment books and what not.
As a Good Tutor
As mentioned before, i feel that being understanding is a key quality to have. Understanding what motivates a student, what puts him/her down and most importantly, how they think. Aside from that, it is important that tutors show commitment and patience as i feel that without commitment, there is no point in wanting to teach anyone as you will not be in it a hundred percent. One needs to be fully committed when imposing your knowledge on to another. As for patience, a tutor needs it as you need to be able to give the student time to comprehend whatever you are teaching as it does not come easy to everyone.
