Rapport Building
I normally build rapport with parents by continuously updating them on their child's progress and letting them know how we can work together to better improve on their child's learning. I build rapport with students by ensuring that they can talk to me as a friend, not just as a tutor. I want my students to understand the importance of why they are doing what they're doing, and it would be much easier if I approach them as a friend since I want them to talk to me. Most students are smart, its just that they need guidance so that they will stay motivated and will also help themselves.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep up with the MOE syllabus by visiting bookstores and ensuring that the syllabus has not changed. I also tend to share information with my fellow tutor friends where we keep each other up to date with regards to the current curriculum.
