Commitment / Other Details
I am currently waiting to read Business Administration at Singapore Management University next year, after serving National Service. I will be available mostly on weekends & off-peak.
Rapport Building
I strive to understand the student better first by getting to know his/her goals for the subject, level of comprehension and level of interest. To keep them interested, a mutual friendly connection must first be established so that lessons can be easier communicated and classes remain intriguing.

Being a retainee in secondary school, the bitterness of failure is no stranger to me - I had to repeat a year in school. I tell stories of my experience, losing interest in class and sleeping my days away during lesson to encourage my tutees to pull up their socks and work hard. I believe in the power of role models; by proving it's possible to pull up one's grades from rock bottom, my students know that they too can do it.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with curriculum by personally revising with the syllabus and ensuring that my material are up-to-date with everything taught in school. I focus on relevance and standards - emphasis on keeping up with learning material from good schools help to maintain students' proficiency.
As a Good Tutor
Good tutors should be able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their students, and adapt their style accordingly for effectiveness. Lessons should be kept light and informal - fostering a conducive environment in which building understanding of concepts is the focus.

The tutor should also be able to connect on a personal level with the tutee as a mentor and a friend, while maintaining professional distance. This encourages the student to communicate and ask freely about the subject without fear of judgement, greatly enhancing the potential for understanding.
