Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been a full time tutor for more than ten years. I am very responsible, patient and encouraging. I take in an average of 1 student per day so that I could focus on every individual.
I am able to start immediately, and ready for long term commitment. All myt students usually stay with me till P6, unless they are moving house.
Rapport Building
I response to parents promptly and sincerely, and update child's progress. I am very patient and encouraging towards my students. I boost their confidence level first, and then guide them according to the child standard rather than pushing them. I am also not a calculative person who leaves on the dot. If the child requires more time, I will not hesitate to extend 10mins or more, especially towards exam period. Parents are thankful when they see their child willingness to work with me, in return, my sense of satisfaction made me more responsible towards my teaching.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have 5 nieces and nephews teaching Primary School who updates me on the curriculum if there is any changes with MOE. I also purchase higher level thinking skills Math Assessment books and Top School pass year exam paper, and work out the solutions. To me, it is rewarding to solve Mahts problems as I think it keeps my brain working, delaying dementia. At time, I also goggle Maths problem and see how others solve it, so as to find a better way to teach my students.
As a Good Tutor
To me, my patient and encouraging words are powerful tools. My sense of responsibility and sincerity is essential when dealing with children and parents. Being a parents myself with 3 children, I could understand parents need to get a reliable tutor.
I only take in an average of 1 student per day, the reason is because I want focus on individual weakness. I do not waste their time by making them do every single questions in the assessment books. It is not advisable to buy too many assessment books, so I have to source questions from other assessment books, other school test paper and online to give to the students to practice. In this way, parents and students could see the improvement faster. Just before the exam, I will list down their careless mistake and revise techniques to answer questions that they tend to forget. Being children, they are careless and forgetful in nature, so the last minute advice will help them to eliminate careless mistake and thus perform better.
