Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am in close contact with teachers in schools. This keeps me abreast of the changes that might happen in the cirruculum.
I am always collecting questions from the top schools. This allows me to better equip my students to answer potential questions that might come out in the exams.
One major direction that the MOE syllabus is heading towards is getting students to learn how to think. They are not interested in students who can just regurgitate answers. I teach them methods on how to think for themselves.
As a Good Tutor
Patience. I believe patience is a very important quality that a tutor need to possess. Most students are tired of being told that they are not good enough. We are like builders. We have to set the foundation and build the child upwards.
A good listener. Sometimes as tutors, we feel that we know what the child does not know. This is detrimental to the child. A good tutor should be able to sense if there is doubt in the child.
