Rapport Building
I started teaching private tuition since I finished JC, and when I started University, I moved on to teaching group classes for Chinese. Have accumulated varied teaching experience ranging from kindergarten, primary, secondary and even adult students. As a Arts and Social Science student, I am happy to teach most humanities subjects. I am also fluent in Japanese, having worked in Tokyo for 3 years. If you need Japanese lessons, please also let me know. I am a strong believer in motivational learning, so I connect with students mainly through their interests. This comes in the form of games, watching short videos or extracts from movies, reading from their favorite material etc. For younger students, I also actively try to communicate with parents to have a better understanding about my student's individual needs.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Coming from a family of Chinese tuition teachers, it is inevitable that the family bookshelf is full of Chinese textbooks from all times. Many friends and acquaintances are also in the teaching profession. which is helpful in getting news on curriculum and syllabus.
As a Good Tutor
Motivation learning is my motto. I don't believe in force or rote learning, especially at advanced level studies. I hope to inspire my students to love the subjects I tutor, and from there, be motivated to improve even when I am not teaching them anymore.
