Rapport Building
Most of the time I will be patient with my students, helping them to learn and not just giving them the answers as I believe that the skills they require to acquire the answer will stay better and longer with them. I will do my best to help and encourage them and give them guiding questions if they are unable to figure out how to solve a difficult question. Students may approach me for any urgent questions during the week and I will do my best to help them. I will help the parents in achieving any aims they have for their children in the most efficient ways possible, and also making sure that learning is kept as a focus during the classes.
Students can ensure that I will use every way to explain the theories to them until theywunderstand me fully and totally. Rewards will be given as a form of encouragement from time to time and lessons will be kept lively.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will acquire exam papers of different schools and use them as a guide to my teaching. I will also look at the Ten Year Series as a guide to help me in my teaching to ensure that the student is learning relevant materials. I will also request for students' past year paper to see how I can best help the student and start from the weakness and eventually build to their strengths
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor always has the student's best interests at heart. To me, teaching is more than a job, but seeing my student grow in their knowledge and confidence in the subject that they once struggled with. Seeing them starting to enjoy subjects that they previously hated because they do not understand it gives me great satisfaction. Learning should be an enjoyable process, and many school syllabus tend to neglect that due to the packed learning style we have here in Singapore. Thus, my aim is to provide the students with the greatest support I can to help them realise that learning is actually fun and enjoyable.
A good tutor will also know when a student needs an encouragement and provide the fullest support with all we have. Students may often feel discouraged because it seems like they are not making any progress. I will ensure that I point out their progress when they feel discouraged and encourage them to push on to be an even better student and let them know that they are capable of being beter.
