Commitment / Other Details
Able to commit for long periods of time, until my tutee sits for his or her upcoming major examinations.
Rapport Building
As a young part-time tutor who have recently graduated from JC, I have always tried to forge a rather casual relationship with my tutees so that they can feel relaxed around me. This enables them to feel at ease about learning in general, and has led to them learning much more efficiently as they are not afraid to make mistakes in front of me, as well as ask me questions. Sometimes after their examinations, I would bring them out and treat them to a nice meal as a form of rewarding them for their hard work. I would attempt to relate myself to them and their learning experience as well, motivating them to work hard and make themselves surprised at what they can achieve.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a Good Tutor
As a tutor, I would make myself available so that the students can send me questions they have difficulty with or ask my concepts they can't grasp, and I would promptly answer them so that the student can learn fast and understand the subject easier. I would frequently attempt to spark the tutee's interest by explaining why they are learning those topics, at the same time using videos or showing them some toys to illustrate to them the 'cool' and interesting ways the concepts can be applied. In addition, I would draw out mind maps and hand write down notes for my tutees if they require them, so that they can learn efficiently.
