I always take the approach of understanding the learning style of the student, and the studying habits that the student has at home and in school. That will allow me to better cater my teaching style accordingly to better optimise learning by the student.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Although I may not have direct information of the latest curriculum, in the subjects that I teach (English and Humanities), I have a good grasp of the content and knowledge through my years of tutoring. What is more important is the approach towards learning and clarifying concepts instead of simply memorising content.
As a Good Tutor
To me being a good tutor is being responsible, patient and dedicated. I always try to keep myself available if the student or parent would like to check in with me beyond the tuition hours. I also adopt a more patient approach in getting to know the student at a personal level, so as to allow them to more openly share about their difficulties in learning.
