Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been teaching for the last 20 years. Students understand my lesson and have done very well in their exams. I am a very patient tutor and I have a very unique way of putting forward my lessons.
Primary level - Chinese English Mathematics Science
Lower secondary level - Mathematics
Upper secondary level - E Maths
Commitment / Other Details
Able to start anytime. Once committed, I will teach till they graduate. For some students, I taught them from their P1 (all subjects) to secondary 4 (math) because my lessons has proven to be useful.
Rapport Building
I have met students with ADHD. I will speak to them to find out what are the topics that will attract their attention. After they have opened up to me, it will be easier for me to do my job. Whenever they start to wonder away from the lessons, I will do a sudden clap of hands to 'bring' back their attention. I have also encountered Introvert students who are willing to welcome me into their world. There was this girl. She has a Piano teacher for 4 years. She is always the listener and has never once spoken to her Piano teacher. However, she started talking to me after having 2 lessons with me. Her family and relatives were so impressed with the way I am able to do it. She was a P2 girl when I started tutoring her (all subjects) and I am still tutoring her now even though she is a Sec 3 girl from PLMGSS. She has always topped the class in Math (the subject that I am teaching her now). Since my students have always performed well, the parents are very satisfied with my teachings. I will always update parents regarding about the students' behaviour (paying attention etc) and responsibilities (finishing their homework etc). In this modern society, some working parents are always out of town. However, they have full trust in me that they put their children in my care. I take care of them just like my own. Their success is my first priority
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Since I have been teaching continously for 20 years, I have always been updated with the curriculum. Moreover, I have relatives and friends who are current school teachers, I am definitely very well-informed.
As a Good Tutor
1) A good way of putting forward the knowledge. I have many students who don't understand their school teachers' lessons. However, they understand immediately after my explanation. This is something that made me proud. 2) Patience. Being patient means we have to ensure that the student understand our lessons even if it means we have to explain many times or to think of other ways of explaining. 3) Responsible. I will not cancel lesson unnecessarily. 4) Be positive. I believe in positive teaching. Even if it is a slight improvement or a small effort, students will hope to get recognition from us. Always acknowledge their hard work.
