Rapport Building
I like to discuss the difficulties the tutee is facing together with their parents. Instead if telling the parents what they have problems with, I'd rather have them explain to the parents and proceed to discuss the ways that I will try to help them so that any misunderstanding will be avoided.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I read up on the exam papers and analyse the type of questions and answers that are required before using my own knowledge to teach the students.
As a Good Tutor
Someone who will push the students but allow them the independence of finishing their work at their own time. Getting students to answer their own questions is also important because it helps them to learn how to think and remember what they have learnt before. Once they have the concepts right, it is good to throw them curveballs so that they can try to apply their knowledge.
