I have passion as well as patience for teaching children from all kinds of background regardless of race, religion, gender, etc. as long as the students are willing to learn.
Rapport Building
I approach students and parents with a positive attitude e.g. willing to listen to their problems and attempting to use various approaches to solve their problems. I also show my care and concern to my students. My past students always thanked me for being friendly, patient and caring! I received the 'Most Caring Teacher Award' in 2011 in Nanyang Girls' high School.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep in touch with my colleagues from the previous schools to discuss the change in the education system particularly in the area of Chemistry. I also visit the Ministry of Education, Singapore website to check for the latest development. I always make sure that my tutees share with me the requirements of their respective schools so that I can cater to their needs.
As a Good Tutor
I will continue to show my care and concern as well as patience to coach my tutees. Listen attentively to what they exactly need help in and design lessons accordingly will be the way I will approach each tutee. I will create a conducive atmosphere for the tutees to learn Chemistry and share with them the effective ways to learn the subject. There were parents sharing with me that their children started to like Chemistry after coaching their children for a period of time.
