Commitment / Other Details
I'm generally able to do tuition on any weekday, after office hours. I'm also available on Saturdays. I'm committed to church activities on Sundays, but when it comes to exam period, I'm flexible.
Rapport Building
I'm usually able to build a rapport with my students. I'm generally quite friendly with my students and their parents, and I do talk to them during tuition. I believe in getting to know what goes on in my student's lives. My students are all very comfortable with me, and usually within weeks, they start to enjoy tuition a little more. My students also know that they can text me to ask me questions during the week if they need help.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As many of you may know, they syllabus for POA has changed quite a fair bit after 2014. However, I've managed to lean the new syllabus on my own. It's not that difficult for me because of my accounting background. I also practice during my free time so as to keep up.
As a Good Tutor
So far this year, I've brought two of my O Level POA students from F9 to B3 for their prelims, after having tuition for around 3 months, and these are students from my old secondary school, where the prelims are much harder than the actual O Level. I'm confident that I will be able to bring them to an A for their actual O Levels. I've also brought two of my N Level students from a fail to a pass for their prelims, within 2 months. I'm not too particular about keeping to the timing, and I usually make sure that my students do their questions until they get it right. I'm also patient with students who learn slowly. Being a Normal Academic student when I was in secondary school, I have to admit that I was also quite slow back then, and I know how it feels. Like I mentioned, I don't give up on my students. I may have an accounting diploma, but I don't see myself working in that line. I want to teach because I want to make a difference, and I will commit to doing my best.
