Tuition/Teaching Experience
Being an experienced Chinese Language secondary school teacher for the past 12 years, I am familiar with the challenges faced by students nowadays in learning their mother tongue. My many years of being a 'O'/'N' level examiner and marker have provided me with a clear insight of what is required to excel in the subject. Also having been a form teacher and classroom teacher for over a decade, I am able to communicate effectively with parents and establish good rapport with students, so as to foster positive working relationships and work towards raising the confidence and academic performance of the students. As an effectively bilingual local educator, I am able to engage local students and ensure clarity in the delivery of knowledge and concepts, which many of my past students appreciated.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start providing tuition sessions right away, and also able to commit throughout. I am able to travel to student's place of residence to give tuition, but preferably in the East.
Rapport Building
I would normally build rapport with students by firstly clarifying with them their academic needs and challenges in the subject, starting to teach the subject at their level to boost their morale and confidence, as well as being approachable and open to any feedback from them on how I can further assist them in their learning. I am also very patient and always provide encouragement to students, so that they continue to feel good about learning the subject. As for parents, I would normally build rapport with them by giving them regular feedback on the learning progress of their child, and also by discussing with them on what they can do to inculcate the child's further interest in the subject.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As I have just left the teaching service earlier this year 2015, I am still quite familiar with the current curriculum. However, I intend to keep myself updated with the curriculum by obtaining latest information from ex-colleagues who are still teaching in schools, by regularly checking MOE/SEAB websites, as well as by checking out relevant educational text/assessment books and materials in major bookstores.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that a good tutor should be one that understands the respective challenge(s) faced by each student, collaborates with student and parents to overcome the challenge, and endeavours to eventually raise the confidence and result of the student.
