Tuition/Teaching Experience
I was a full-time tutor for 3 years between 2009 and 2011 teaching both primary and secondary school students English and Math until I joined my current job as a special needs teacher. I see tuition as a platform for students to not only clarify their doubts in academic subjects but also to constantly learn and practice what has been taught. As a tutor, my main aim is to provide a fun learning environment so that students enjoy the process of learning and studying. Adding on, being a special needs teacher teaching autistic students has taught me to be adaptive to each student's learning abilities. Modifying the lessons and including more hands on activities is one such way.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to commit immediately. Looking at long-term projects. Weekends preferred. Weekday nights subjective to availability as I have night classes twice a week.
Rapport Building
It is crucial for a student to see a friend in the tutor. That is when a student will not hesitate to raise any questions and clarify any doubts with regards to the subjects taught. As for parents, it is essential for a tutor to update them on their child's progress. I will usually provide certain tips for parents to help their child enhance their learning especially for math.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
When I have the time, I will look through my nephews' and nieces' books to have an idea of the curriculum. Besides that, I also head to bookstores to browse through assessment books and textbooks. I am comfortable with teaching lower primary math and English for all levels including secondary students.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor must be able to understand that each child is a unique individual. It s essential to build a rapport with the students so that they will enjoy the lessons and not see it as a chore to attend classes. A good tutor will think of ways to enhance the students learning.
