No. of years of teaching experience: 5 years
No. of years in service: 0.5 year
Have been teaching mid to low ability students. My classes have done well in their end of year examinations last year, with half of them scoring distinction, and the rest passing with a good grade.
Able to commit in the late afternoons and evening from Monday to Sunday, excluding Fridays.
Prefer to teach long term, i.e, up until the end of the year
Rapport Building
For my students in school, I often provide consultations for them after school. I also keep their parents updated with their child's latest progress. I am also aware of their family background and help them as needed.
As for my tutee, I will make sure I know their school's scheme of work, so as to better teach them. I feel that tuition acts as a supplement to school's teaching, therefore, what I teach has to be in line with my tutee's school so as to not make my tutee confused with too much information. As for tutee's parents, I will keep them updated with their child's progress and improvement / areas of improvements.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a current school teacher, I attend courses and have department meetings to keep ourselves updated with the curriculum and the latest examination requirements. Therefore, this is not a problem for me.
As a Good Tutor
The basic qualities of a good tutor is to help students do well in their examinations and tests. As mentioned, I feel that tuition is a supplement to the school's curriculum, and I will make sure that what I teach is in line with what my tutee's school is teaching, so as to not confuse the kids with too much unnecessary information.
