Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been giving one-on-one English tuition since end 2012, to students with a variety of needs. I have also had successful experiences with working with dyslexic students and ADHD-diagnosed students, helping them to get to the schools of their choice.
I come from a family of teachers. It is amazing to see students grow under the right methods of communication and work. My time is divided between researching educational techniques and personal development so that I can keep providing more knowledge and resources to the student.
I studied art at Academie Minerva, The Netherlands. Styles I am best able to teach are realistic oil/acrylic painting and drawing.
I can start any time, but specific time/day slots depend on the most current schedule.
Rapport Building
I usually begin with a diagnostic test to gauge the student's ability. This is discussed, if needed, with the parents so that we can build similar reasonable expectations in improvement.
Rapport with the student is built through activities such as creating original, enjoyable exercises, reading aloud, discussions and visual aids. I try to make it a highly interactive session as part of the education method. I am extremely welcome to communication with parents, as our cooperation makes the learning environment more consistent for the child.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I work with other schoolteachers and tutors, so I have access to the latest updates on the curriculum and school requirements.
As a Good Tutor
The exercises given should be structured personally for each child, depending on their strengths and weaknesses. The tutor should be patient and sensitive in words and actions. Poor judgement of the student's feelings can undo self-esteem and progress very quickly.
