Tuition/Teaching Experience
Ex-Dyslexia Assocation Of Singapore Educational Therapist. Known to be good in her skills and able to successfully remediate kids from disinterested and low- self esteem learners to independent keen learners. I am patient and focus on building rapport with students through being interested in their life then custom design lesson plans to ensue they experience success and boost their self esteem. Once students have confidence in reading and writing, I will slowly lead them to work to their best potential through positive reinforcements in an emotionally sound way.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start immediately, and will commit as long as the student needs my service as being an Educational Therapist is my passion and I am starting out full-time and in it for the long haul. Most of my tuition will be 1 on 1, although a group of 2 with matching special needs is more beneficial to the children.
Rapport Building
I will have a long consultation with the students' parents before the start of each lesson to understand the child's learning history, challenges and needs. Parent's will be updated regularly on what has been done during lesson and what how the student has been responding to the lesson. Parents can call me to enquire about child's progress.
I will build rapport with students by playing learning games with the younger ones or conduct 'Get to know you' surveys for the older ones. I will listen to what they find challenging in their work and which areas they need help in if they are able to articulate so. An informal assessment will be carries out to determine their reading and spelling levels in order to custom design lesson plans for them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I access the MOE website to see the latest published curriculum.Liase with friends teaching in schools to update myself. Research from The library and Browse bookstores to checkout reference guides for the updated curriculum.
As a Good Tutor
It is important to treat each student as a unique individual with lots of potential yet to be discovered. It is always important to remind them that having a good character, a hardworking attitude in life plus other lifelong learning values is more important then being able to score fantastic grades but have a bad attitude towards life and learning. Their school performance is important but cannot and should not define them as a person as some may not be gifted in the academics but in other areas like drawing, music, sports, cooking, etc. I will encourage and teach them to identify their learning styles, their strengths and weakness in their studies and to leverage on their strengths. Finally, to tell them to stop comparing themselves to others as each of us have our own talents and are made unique.
