Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have not had prior experience being paid for teaching students. However, I have taught secondary school students as a volunteer under Beyond Social Services. I also often answer queries from my schoolmates over text and give them 'consults' on specific past year A level papers, thus I am not foreign to summarising concepts clearly and succintly, in a way that can be understood easily.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to commit until minimum August 2015 as I may be heading overseas for further studies. Willing to travel and also give tuition at night as I understand many students have CCA commitments late into the night. Free on Saturdays as well as Sunday late afternoons onwards.
Rapport Building
I will seek to be a very approachable tutor to my tutee, one that is extremely relatable and available for advice given the smaller age gap. I will make myself available over text for any queries they may run into, even late at night (if I happen to see the message) as they are doing their work as I understand first hand the frustration students face when they get stuck on their assignment. I am a very outgoing person, and seek to make tuition sessions less stifling and something my tutees will hopefully look forward to.
As for parents, I update them about their child's progress and provide them with the reassurance that their child is in good hands.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Every school is different, and of course I would need to ask my tutees about their school curriculum, especially if they are in the integrated program or IB. As for the A level and O level curriculums, the learning objectives are available on the internet as well as in textbooks and guidebooks. I will seek to go through the material myself, so as to synthesise the information and organise it in a way that is easily digestible and easily remembered for my students, using the many study tips I have learnt during my years in school.
As a Good Tutor
I think good tutors must offer something that school teachers often cannot - personalised attention for each student. Many students often feel that school teachers are too intimidating to ask questions they deem to be 'trivial', however these questions usually form the basis for their understanding of a topic and hence attention needs to be given to ensure that they understand the answers completely. Tutors also often have the ability to motivate tutees more effectively given the rapport built.
