Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have once taught in a tuition center. I was put to teach the lower primary students English and Mathematics. Knowing that the lower primary students will be more playful, I have to be more patient with them. I slowly make friends with them and the class became more fun after that. The students would participate actively and stay more focus during lessons. Its a great joy teaching the students there. Unfortunately, my JC1 term started very early so i could not stay there for long to accompany the students till the end due to heavy school commitments.
I am able to start in January and can commit for the whole year until the students' end of year exam.
Rapport Building
I will make friends with the students as I believe that when I make friends with them, they will trust me more and will tell me the problems that they are facing. By doing that, I can come up with ways to help the students to tackle their study problems and at the same time share with them my experience. As for parents, I will keep them updated of their child's progress so that they can keep a look out for their child when they are at home.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will read the assessment books and ten year series to keep myself update of the curriculum teaches in school.
As a Good Tutor
First of all, patient is the most important thing that a good tutor must have. A tutor must be patient as there may be some students that are a bit slower in learning, so they may need more time to digest the concepts and understand what we want to teach them. Once they understand the concept, they will be able to apply and improve. Next, a good tutor must have passion to teach, if there is no passion, they will not give their fullest to the students and thus the students will not get 100% from the teacher.
