Normally, i will first understand how the student is doing via both parents and student. Follow by understanding students strength and weaknesses before planning a suitable learning style for the student. Subsequently, student's performances for the subject will be monitored, and will be report back to the parents upon request.

I keeping up with the curriculum through borrowing textbook from my juniors, as well as buying the exercise books available at popular. I also browses through the MOE website at times to understand and be wary the requirements for the subject.
As a Good Tutor
To be a good tutor, not only one must be patient, the tutor must be flexible as well. To me, the main thing about tutor is to transfer his knowledge to the student. Thus, he must not lose his patience easily. When student still do not understand a question after a few times of explanation, a professional teacher should not feel annoyed and lose his temper. Also, a tutor must be flexible in teaching as well. Different people has different learning style, thus, when a student fail to understand a question, the tutor should find out what exactly went wrong (perhaps too much info, too complicated, etc.), then find an alternative way to explain instead of just repeating the same thing.
