Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have taught a student Biology for 2 years and have good Math results. My years of study in good schools and exposure to patient teachers have allowed me to understand that a skillful delivery of the subject content is as important as the content itself. Only with good teaching practices and methodology can students internalize the concepts and truly enjoy learning. Contrary to popular belief, biology is not pure memory work. Through my way of teaching, I aim to show how biology is a journey of self-discovery. With this mindset, application questions, the most feared of all by any student, becomes less intimidating and instead, become valuable opportunities in enriching understanding. I try to tailor lessons for my students to ensure an optimum learning experience. Join me on this journey.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start teaching as soon as possible. I am free on weekday evenings, Saturday afternoons and evenings and Sunday evenings. I am able to teach into the second half of 2015, where I would be matriculating in NUS.

I can teach O Level Biology, O Level Combined Sciences with Biology, A Level H1 Biology, A Level H2 Biology.

I can teach lower secondary Mathematics and O Level E Maths.

I can also teach Japanese, having a JLPT N1 qualification in December 2013. I can teach beginners learning Japanese for leisure, students preparing for JLPT examinations and students studying Japanese as a third language in O Levels and A Levels.

I can also teach the Yang Qin, a traditional Chinese music instrument. I have Diploma qualifications for NUS Centre For The Arts and NAFA Central Conservatory Of Music.

I have previously taught an O Level Combined Science with Biology Student for 2 years. Through our perseverance together, she achieved a grade of B3 in her GCE O Level Combined Science with Biology Exam in 2014.
Rapport Building
I try to understand my students' expectations of me. I will advise my students to set goals and encourage them to realize that goal to be where they would like to be. I will try to plan out the steps towards their goal using small, yet achievable steps that can generate a sense of achievement and keep the motivation going. To me, it is important to let my students feel and know that they are not alone in this journey and that we as teachers will always be supporting them. Hand-in-hand, we work together, towards our common goal.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am very familiar with the O Level Biology syllabus as I have been teaching students O Level Biology recently. I am also quite familiar with the A Level Biology syllabus as I have recently graduated from Junior College and more importantly, I can pick up new content easily as I have a strong foundation in Biology.

I am very familiar with the JLPT syllabus as I have taken the N4, N3, N2 and N1 exams on consecutive years, with the N1 taken less than a year ago.

I am in touch with Yang Qin and I practice it during my spare time.
As a Good Tutor
Following in the footsteps of my teachers who groomed me well in biology, I believe that good tutors must be dedicated and committed. This means that the tutor must have the passion to teach and must want the student to excel as much as the student wants to. Good tutors do not give up on their students. They brave the storms together with their students, hand-in-hand, towards a brighter tomorrow. I believe that a good tutor is a person who is receptive to and enthusiastic about learning. As such, they must be willing to find answers for their students even if they are unable to come up with solutions for them immediately. I believe that through the complex bond a good tutor shares with his student, both parties learn and grow through the sharing of knowledge. With these in mind as my guiding compass, I am confident that I will live up to be a good tutor.
