Tuition/Teaching Experience
I am on scholarship, taking an accelerated degree from NIE. Meanwhile I am tutoring a P6 student. Prior to taking my degree course, I did a teaching stint in 2 local schools over a span of 2 years.
I will be able to start from the start of October 2014 till June 2015 (depending on tutee's needs). Preferably weekends for 2 hours.
Rapport Building
Usually I have regular updates via face-to-face meetings/ SMS after each tution session so that the parents are kept in the loop and can monitor their kid's homework & progress. As for the students, a short portion of the first lesson would be dedicated to sharing their strengths/weaknesses in the subject(s) and preferences for learning ( for example, hands-on or visual-learner, etc.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Being NIE trained and having taught in schools, I am aware of the syllabus and curriculum. I also have materials and resources from NIE/schools that I can use to teach the students.
As a Good Tutor
I am committed, respectful of the needs of the child/parents, dedicated and am open to suggestions to improve my teaching. I believe that a good tutor is not only helping the child academically but is also a motivator/supporter. Through tutoring, I know I would also grow to become a better teacher.
