I taught Biology and English Language at a local secondary school for 3 years. I work on the principle that every child can learn, given a positive and nurturing relationship between the student and teacher. I also believe in life-long learning - that education is less about facts and formulas and more about instilling the discipline to be curious and open-minded in all fields of life.
I prefer fostering close bonds with my students, which I feel results in an increase in motivation levels. I also feel that small successes help in building confidence, leading to better results in the longer run.
I am available immediately outside regular office hours.
Rapport Building
I am naturally personable and form quick bonds with both parents and teachers. I use techniques like games and role playing to get students to feel more comfortable in my presence and increase their motivation. With parents, I am respectful of their needs and always willing to engage them in their child's learning.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As an ex-MOE teacher, I have had experience following the curriculum to a T. I also keep myself updated by reading up and keeping myself abreast of the newest changes in syllabi. I am also in touch with former colleagues, who update me on the current status of things in school.
