I've taught tuition for 8 years. As I'm a part time tutor, I have a specific focus on the level and subjects I teach. The students I have taught are only 'O' Levels students. And I only teach E-maths and A-maths.
Other than teaching tuition, I conduct success training as well for sales agents. I value highly the importance of a winning attitude. and thus always take into account the motivation level and attitude of students, directing them towards a positive learning attitude and collaborative spirit together with me to achieve a common goal together -- their academic success.
As I'm a part time tutor and full time business owner, I'm flexible to change of tuition timing to accommodate to the students as well. But my preferred timing are weekday afternoons.
Rapport Building
I like to spend an extra half hour outside the teaching hours during the first meeting to build a mentor/student plus friendship with the student. As my students are usually already young adults, I'll chat with them about their goals and how they plan to achieve their goals. As we understand each other better, I believe they will feel more at ease to start learning from me.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I'll talk to my teacher friends, tutor friends teaching similar subjects and levels. I'll download the latest updates from MOE.
