Commitment / Other Details
I am available for tuition on all weekdays except Wednesdays from 12.30pm onwards. I am also available on weekends from morning till evening. I can start anytime now and am able to commit all the way until end of the year. From beginning May till mid August I will only be available on weekends and weekday nights (8pm onwards) as I will be doing an internship during that period.
Rapport Building
I have no experience in building rapport with students and parents as of yet.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I make it a point to look through the latest assessment books to understand what the students are presently learning. With regard to mathematics (since that is the only subject I want to tutor in), the curriculum has barely changed over the years and secondary school level students are still learning the same things that I learned when I was their age. As such, keeping updated with the curriculum is hardly an issue.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor encourages and guides the student to solve the problem, rather than simply revealing the answer. The tutor reinforces new knowledge in the student by getting him/her to answer multiple questions where this knowledge has to be applied. A good tutor ensures that the student is keeping pace with the curriculum, identifies gaps in the student's knowledge and works to fill the gap. A good tutor will be willing help the student when he/she experiences problems even outside of tuition hours.
