Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have more than 12 years of experience teaching chemistry in schools. Currently, I am an adjunct laboratory instructor at Nanyang Technological University and an adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic. I specialise in teaching chemistry and have taught more than 10 different chemistry modules (e.g. Forensic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry Reaction Mechanisms, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Advanced Instrumental & Laboratory Techniques, Laboratory Management, Industrial Chemicals & Processes, Analytical Chemistry and Fragrance & Flavour Chemistry, etc.) at Singapore Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I adjust my teaching methodology based on the learning needs of my students. Most of them improve significantly and do well at the O/A levels exams.
I can start teaching assignments ASAP. I am able to do small group teaching at my place within walking distance from Woodlands MRT.
Rapport Building
My training in counselling allows me to apply motivational and other strategies beyond academic coaching to students who have been under-performing.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a current lecturer, I have ample experience in teaching lectures, tutorials and practicals
As a Good Tutor
I am able to design teaching materials and adjust my teaching methodology according to the learning needs of students. As a private tutor, I have coached students from main-stream schools (e.g. CHIJ St. Nicholas, Choon Boon Secondary School, MGS, Nanchiau High, Pasir Ris Secondary School, etc.), IP schools (HCI, NJC, RGS, RI), IB schools (ACS(I)), junior colleges (CJC, NJC, NYJC, PJC, RJC) and polytechnics (NYP), on a one-to one basis and in small groups.
Most of my tutees show significant improvements within 2 months. Many of them (inclusive of students from JC, polytechnic, secondary and IP schools) improve from fail to grades A or B at the final examinations.
