I am trained in managing students with special needs and would like to do specialised interventions in reading and handwriting interventions. With play therapy experience, I am also able to incorporate it into my sessions to aid learning better. My specialty is in dyslexia and language impairments. But I have gathered experience working with children with physical disabilities and dyspraxia. I use multisensory methods to teach reading and calculations to students with special needs and I am also trained in providing handwriting therapy to students who have weak fine motor control. I also conduct informal assessments to gauge the baseline and I will measure the improvement over the sessions.
I am able to start immediately. My rates would range from 45-60 per hour, as I am providing a specialised intervention for children with special needs. I am focused in improving the reading, calculating and handwriting skills in children.
It would be good if the students can come to my home, and that would be a 45 per hour. If I travel to the home, a nomimal transport fee would be charged. Fees are negotiable according to family income.
I can also do group therapy so fees for each student would be lower.
My preferred days would be Saturday mornings and afternoons for the time being. My sessions would be weekly.
Rapport Building
I am very open to feedback, and I am willing to allow parents to sit in for my sessions so that they learn the skills of teaching their children. I would do an informal assessment of every student and teach based on their needs. Regular feedback would be given to parents after every session. That's what I hope to do.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
My main job requires me to work closely with MOE schools, so I can keep up to date with the curriculum, My aim would be to help bridge the gap between the special needs students and the mainstream education.
As a Good Tutor
A good interventionist is someone who can relate well to the student, and is able to tailor teaching according to the student's needs.
