Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been tutoring primary level students and pre-school children, both privately and at tuition centres, since 2009. Teaching young children has always been something I find highly rewarding and enriching. There is no job more gratifying than teaching, especially when you see the children do well in their examinations.

I believe that when a child is loves a subject, he or she will definitely excel in it. Simply because, when you are actually interested in something, you would not mind spending time and effort on it because you would most likely enjoy the process. With this belief in mind, I not only want to teach a child what he or she should know, but also aim to foster a child's interest in the subject. Passion can be a very powerful motivation.

Commitment / Other Details
I have decided to become a full-time tutor come January 2014 and will be able to take new students from Mid-December 2013 onwards.

Commitment Duration: I will teach your child for as long as you find my tutoring beneficial to your child.
Rapport Building
I think there is a fine line between being fierce and firm. I am not a fierce tutor, because I don't want my students to be afraid/be intimidated by me; I don't want them be afraid to talk to/ask me if they have any questions. I am, however, firm with them; I believe in being friends with all my students. Most of my students would tell me about their day at school, their friends, or anything else they'd like to share with me; and all these can sometimes be very helpful.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am currently pursuing a degree in English (Lang & Lit) with Psychology, so not only am I constantly exposed to the English language, what I'm learning is also extremely relevant when it comes to teaching. My language acquisition modules allow me to learn how a child acquires language, and this will allow me to tailor my lessons according to a child's learning patterns and in turn, help the child excel in the language to the best he or she can. Every child learns differently. The psychology aspect of my degree will also, definitely be most useful.

I am constantly updated with the current curriculum through my current students, my younger cousins and visits to Popular Bookstore by browsing through past year exam papers and assessment books.
As a Good Tutor
To me, a good tutor is one who is patient, dedicated, passionate and of course, one who understands the taught subject well. The tutor should also be able to get along well with the student and his or her parents, and regularly update them on the progress of the child, or any other observations.

And all these are qualities I strive for.
