I have given tuition to a Primary 3 students in Mathematics for 3 months. Her grades improved from a C to a B. In addition, I have given years of "tutoring" to my classmates and friends when they needed help in their subject such as Mathematics.
They all understood my explanation very clearly as they commented that I was able to identify very specifically on the exact part on which they do not understand.
I have been continuously scoring A for my Mathematics since Primary school until now even in Polytechnic, I am still scoring A for my maths-related modules such as Economics, Accounting and Business Statistics.
I can start ASAP and will be able to continue for a very long period of time. I am very flexible with the timing and it can be arranged accordingly to the student preferences.
Rapport Building
I normally would try to build a relationship with my student and try to understand what is my student likes and dislikes in that particular subject. No amount of tutoring would help if a student is not interested and willing to put in effort to improve themselves on the subject.
As such, I would always make it a point to encourage my student to put in more effort in the subject by presenting them with simple rewards such as sweets when they progressing well and always providing word of encouragements at all times to know that they are able to achieve more than what they think they can do.
For the parents, I would always update them regularly on their child progress on the subject and would try to advice them, if possible in some of the various ways they can also help out in helping their child to achieve better academic results.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have friends taking O levels and I do give them occasional tutoring in helping them out. Base on the tutoring session, I would be able to refresh myself regularly with the things I teach them .
As a Good Tutor
There is no such thing as an established formula where a tutor would follow in teaching to ensure that student would get an A. Every individuals has different learning paces and see things/absorbed them in differently. As such, a good tutor would be one who is able to identify the best way to teach to these student in a way which they would be able to understand in the easiest and fastest manner.
