Tuition/Teaching Experience
I had 6 months experience teaching english, math and science on a voluntary weekly basis to primary school children with learning disabilities, teaching spelling, pronunciation and grammar.

I'm very passionate about teaching in the most fun way I can manage because I feel in education, the teacher's ability to be interesting is just as important as the student's willingness to learn.

Commitment / Other Details
I am currently an undergraduate at SMU, and I can teach at least from now till the end of the year for weekday nights. The arrangement for weekday nights may change next year according to my academic timetable. I am available immediately.
Rapport Building
I am a very spirited person, and generally find it easy to communicate with children and youths. While I am friendly, I am also firm, which makes for more productive lessons.
Parents normally find it easy to open up to me regarding academic concerns because I am very approachable, which helps in my understanding of the needs of the student. I am very contactable via phone, which will help break down the barriers between myself, the students and their parents.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a Good Tutor
"A good teacher, like a good entertainer first must hold his audience's attention, then he can teach his lesson."
-John Henrik Clarke

I cannot stress enough the importance of having the right teacher for the job, because learning cannot be a one-sided affair. Having gone through years of education myself, I strongly believe that a student cannot be faulted for an inability to be focused if the teacher is inadequately captivating.

As such, in my opinion, the basic quality a good tutor has to have is the ability to create an engaging dialogue with the student regarding the subject matter. Then and only then, can there be true learning, besides that of unfruitful regurgitation of textbook phrases.
