Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have taught a lower primary student from Philippine back in 2012. However, due to commitments and school activities, I did not take up any more tuition assignments thereafter.
I am able to start immediately and able to commit till my graduation in 2015. Weekends or weekdays are fine.
Rapport Building
It should depend on the age, gender and activeness of the student. If my student had a shy personality, I would use a softer approach so he/she would open up to me slowly. If the student was active and playful, I would be stern, but not fierce, to first gain respect from the student. As for parents, I would usually have a chat with them to understand their needs and the child's needs, and assure that their child would be in good hands.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will look through their textbooks and give them assignments that meet the school's standards. Occasionally, I would assign challenging questions to the students to further hone their skills in a particular subject.
As a Good Tutor
Patience and passion. As different student has a different temperament, it is important to have the patience to understand each and every student in order to have effective communication. A tutor should also have a passion for teaching, the desire to impart knowledge to the child and coach them genuinely, both academically and personally.
