I have taught in 3 different schools as a full time teacher and have taught English, Maths and Science to P1-5 pupils, allowing me to see the different teaching styles of the more experienced teachers as well as the learning needs of the pupils.
As a tutor, I believe in developing the pupil's ability to thinking skills. I start every session by checking if the pupil has understood his school lessons and clarify if necessary, then give practice where I teach them skills to understand the questions (Eg. Model Drawing), and then developing a plan to solve it. The problem I feel most pupils have is not their inability to understand the syllabus, but that they do not take the time to understand the question asked (something very evident when marking exam papers).
