    Keeping Up with Curriculum
    I look up past year papers and curriculum online. My currently course of study (Biology and 2nd Major in Biomedical Structural Biology) is also highly relevant to the subjects I am offering to teach (Bio/Chem). Hence, I will be able to keep up well with what I teach.
    As a Good Tutor
    A good tutor addresses any issues a student might have with their subjects, be it requiring more practice or needing further help understanding a concept. If done well, these would result in better grades and increased interest in their subject. Going beyond just pulling up grades, a good tutor would also aim to inspire their student to appreciate their field of study and give them opportunities to expand their interest in the topic creatively.

                -My personal journey in teaching chemistry has never been smooth until I reached University. I struggled with the fast pace of learning in Secondary School and JC because I was caught up in the "why"s and "why-not"s. Teachers in school have a limited amount of time to deliver syllabus content and often forgo in depth explanations of topics, instead just asking students to memorise fixed phrases and concepts. As such, my grades in chemistry in Sec and JC were not perfect As, rather I got an A2 and B respectively. It was only after I entered university and was required to take chemistry modules as part of my MOE scholarship terms that realised that a full understanding of a subject must come from deconstructing it to its smallest unit and building it back up again to get the full picture. This is where I shine as a chemistry tutor, because I know exactly the struggle that students have in understanding chemistry. I have decontructed each topic into easily understandable concepts that I am able to deliver to my students. I do not take short cuts, I do not advocate "memorising" concepts (if you understand it, why would you even need to memorise anything??), I do not advocate "memorising" techniques.

                Keeping Up with Curriculum
                Since I have been teaching batches of students for the past 5 years, I know what syllabus is currently being taught for chemistry. As teacher, I obviously will have to be up-to-date with the current syllabus.
                As a Good Tutor
                I am organised, systematic and patient when delivering content. I am very high energy, which will match well with students who possess equally high energies OR students who find the subject "dry" and "boring". For online classes, I will be using ZOOM/SKYPE and will use a screen sharing technique to teach. My computer is fitted with a screen writing function, so it is similar to the ones used to teach JC students and University students (students can see in real-time what I am writing on the virtual board.
