Tuition/Teaching Experience
This is the first time I try as a subject tutor in Singapore. However, I've been tutoring students in my country during the break between A-level and University. Hence, even though I've not taught in Singapore, I believe that I had some experiences in helping the students improve their results.

As a Good Tutor
A good tutor needs to understand the ability of the students he is teaching. This will enable him to choose the best teaching methods to help the students. Besides, a good tutor needs to be patient enough to explain difficult concepts to his students without losing his temper. Of course, the tutor must have a very good knowledge at the subject that he is teaching.

I do not have any experience. I am sincere and keen to provide the student in the best of my abilities in the subject that I am competent in tutoring in. The subject I am referring to is Chinese. I like to tutor students in the Lower Primary ( Primary 1 to 4) which is the foundation year. I know how important it is to them to have a good foundation before able to take on more difficult learning phase in this subject. I am staying in Jurong East. It will be much easier if the tuition assignments are in the West area.
I am a senior associate engineer with a China MNC which specializing in doing software and hardware products testing for computer companies. I have attached copies of the education certifications and I/C. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much for your attention

I have a one year experience teaching a secondary student, which was assigned to me by a family support centre. It was volunteer work, thus there was no payment involved. However, I still enjoyed it greatly. More often than not, students from family support group are hard to handle as their family can't afford the time and money to take care of their children's education. These students slowly adopt a frivolous learning attitude. This posed as a problem for me when teaching him; nevertheless, I was willing to take up the challenge. I was genuinely happy when he became comfortable with solving a problem that I had taught him before. My effort to communicate with him paid off when he finally opened up and talked to me more. Students' progress and overall development are my goals.

I'm able to start on 9th August, 2014. I'm able to commit to an assignment for any period of time from a month at least to 4 years at most.
            Rapport Building
Apart from their school results, I care a lot about students' overall development. Owing to this reason, I tend to play the role of an older brother who will teach his siblings tips, lessons in life. I enjoy finding out more about my students' hobbies, such as movies, food, music and am more than willing to share mine with them. It is often the case that friendship cannot develop overnight, but must be built slowly. Hence, I will put effort to talking to my students day after day, share our opinions on any topic, so that over time, we will understand each other more and more.

As parents are usually concerned about their children's results, I will take the initiative to contact them and report my students' results and overall progress. I will find a way to summarize the report in a concise manner, and will take the time to explain to them if need be. It goes without saying that I should not put unnecessary pressure on both the parents and the students if the students' situations are not really serious.
            Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will browse through the neighbourhood stores that sell past-year examination papers from top schools, as well as borrow materials from my juniors in Raffles Institution to keep myself updated with the curriculum and examination scope. I will also find relevant materials, tips, discussions posted on the Internet and filter them to get the latest and most useful information for my students.
            As a Good Tutor
In my humble opinion, a good tutor must be dedicated. He is committed to the progress of his students and see that as his ultimate reward. He must be willing to patiently explain the materials/questions to the students should the students find it hard to understand for the first time. A good tutor must also follow the agreed schedule closely. It reflects poorly on a tutor to be tardy or to take a day off as he wishes, saying that he can make it up anytime. Above all, a tutor must be truly a friend to the students, one whom they can freely ask questions. This is of utmost importance because once the students keep questions to themselves, it will become a harmful habit and hinder their progress.

I think teaching someone is not easy especially the students do not have the passion to study that particular subject they don't like. So I will try my best to create a fun learning style so the students can understand better and have fun while learning.
