      I always believe in mutual communication and trust with every student. It is only through understanding the student, and his difficulties, will the student be able to both see improvement as well as enjoy the learning process. Simple examples that I have encountered in the past which I believe should be quite common among students nowadays, and overwhelming amount of work and pressure from the school. This was communicated by my first student to me, that he had a never ending work pile from all the subjects. The solution then was quite simple to me, adapt my lesson plan so that I would not have to, or minimise giving homework to the student.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      I still keep in contact with my teachers from both my Secondary School as well as my JC, and often seek advice from them. At the same time, they also update me with the changes in the curriculum. I also read widely about the subject beyond the syllabus, in order to cope with future syllabus changes. I handled change in syllabus of A Math in 2014, by reading up on the changes, as well as looking through assignments online, as well as seeking advice from my respective former teachers.
      As a Good Tutor
      A good tutor has to be understanding, as well as patient. Not every student is the same. All my previous students had different learning paces, different methods of absorbing information, etc. I believe a good tutor would be able to adapt his teaching style to the student's needs, to enhance the learning process.

                I can start anytime the student is ready, as long as there is a few days advanced notice upon confirmation of schedule and fees.

                During lessons, it is impossible to be teaching all the time, and neither is it possible for the student to be focused on studying all the time. For that reason, I believe it is important to occasionally have some conversation with the student that is beyond the textbooks and test papers. Referencing real life examples is important in piquing the student's interest, and so is finding out more about the student and his/her future plans. For that, I would also go through goals setting to ensure the student reflect on his final objective. Parents are of course most concerned about their child, and for that reason, I will regularly drop a text to the parent updating on the student's performance during lesson. I genuinely hope that students will enjoy my lessons, and that my lessons will make them more interested in the subject, and at the same time parents can be at ease, knowing that their child are making progress.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
                I will visit SEAB website to get a glimpse of the syllabus. Most of time this is not needed, however, as I have graduated from A levels in recent years and the curriculum has not changed much since then.
                As a Good Tutor
                Fundamentally, a tutor exist for the sake of improving grades. This involves practice and supervision, and need qualities such as patience and communication abilities. However, in some cases there the student is more competent, I believe a good tutor should look beyond just grades and assist his students to reach a deeper understanding. Bottom line is, apart from basic tutoring qualities like patience and knowledge, a tutor also need to be adaptable to fit the student.
