Back in school, I helped my peers with their work when they are in doubt. I feel that being a tutor needs a few qualities. One, the most basic one is to have the interest in teaching. Two, being able to communicate well with the tutee so that he understands you. Lastly, transfer your knowledge to the tutee and make him want to learn more. I used to be employed as a therapist for children with learning disabilities such as ASD and ADHD thus I am well aware of certain difficulties that children encounter when learning. I administered one on one intervention to these children and employed techniques that catered to their learning styles. I am very patient and one of my philosophies in teaching is respecting the individual learning pace of each child as well as their unique needs and abilities. I believe that in order for real learning to occur, a child must be able to make sense of the new information and integrate this with his/her life.
