I usually like to understand their curriculum, and know how they are coping with their school-life balance in order to find out if there are other factors affecting their studies or performance. With parents, I would provide honest feedback based on how their child displays through their works, or if there are any underlying concerns which they might not have communicated with their parents.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the MOE syllabus as indicated on their website, and also browse through 10 year series and other relevant books which might be of help.
As a Good Tutor
I always believe that patience is a MUST, regardless of the age of the student. Every student learns at a different pace, and through the learning process, understanding the needs of the students is also essential in identifying areas of concern. Additionally, being a good listener also helps in two-way communication, helping the student to strive better not only in grades, but also as an individual.
